Background:

On December 14th 1959 Richard and Emily Vance were blessed with their first and only daughter, a beautiful, healthy baby girl. This was just short of a miracle, because there had been birth complications due to Emily having to give birth to her premature daughter. Who’s name was Emmeline Nichole Claire Vance. Before the girl could walk she was speaking to anyone that would listen to her scrambled sentences. By the time she was Two she could be found following her mother to Diagon Alley and taking an early interest in the half of her ancestry which was wizarding.

Emmeline Vance cast her first spell when she was 5 years old, and although her father Richard was proud of his daughters early accomplishments, he would have rather that his only child would have taken a liking to muggle things instead. Although she has never been forced to take sides in her parents backgrounds, she always felt a pull towards her magical side. Obviously choosing her Magical education over her muggle one.

Even though she has tried time and time again to break free from her muggle side, she found that it was still rather endearing. One of her father’s happiest days included when Emmeline inclined to continue her muggle studies throughout her summers. (Even though to this day Emmeline insists that she was manipulated into it) She still continues with her dance classes, which she somehow finds time to practice through her magical studies while at Hogwarts.

When Emmeline finally made it to Hogwarts at the age of eleven, -even though her father thought her to young- she was sorted into Gryffindor. Her parents had both expected her to land a position in Ravenclaw as was the regular house of anyone related by blood to the Preston Household. No one was ashamed of her, only confused. Emmeline spent her first week at Hogwarts crying herself to sleep, because she thought she had failed her parents terribly, by not being the amazingly intelligent girl they had accepted.

After a long tearstained owl to her home, and her parents threats to bring her home if she thought she couldn’t function properly there, she finally smartened up and made room in her life for friends and other such things. Emmeline never had the greatest people skills when she began school. She had been home schooled by her parents because they had lived so far out of town. Now that she was in a social setting all the time she found it hard to concentrate on her school work and finally began to realize why the sorting hat had avoided placing her under the Ravenclaw category. She was by no means stupid, but also was not Ravenclaw material.

Over her years at Hogwarts Emmeline Vance had a rather exciting time, dating all the boys and basically living the life. She was never without a shoulder to cry on, never really had to deal with rejection. In her second year she dated one of the most wanted boys in the entire Castle. (Sirius Black) Over her other years, she continued to evade her school work as much as she could during the school year because she wound up with a full 12 months of work. Emmeline wasn’t ever a shy girl after her relationship with the marauders blossomed. All of them became rather good friends while Sirius and Emmeline were seeing each other. And even though they broke up all those years ago all of the Gryffindor’s are rather close.

Defining Marks: Has several tastefull muggle tattoo's. One from ages ago, with a crescent moon and 4 stars on her shoulder blade. A duckling on her hip, and the head of a lion behind her ear.
Dress Style: Comfy Casual, though can be found dressing up for silly occasions. She dresses to impress when she feels she needs to and other times wears whatever she finds in her closet
Possessions Always on her Person: Wand, her necklace.
Manner of Speech: A feminine British accent, with a tad bit of French in it, as her fathers side of the family is French. Feminine, though not overly girly.
Manner of Movement: Swift. Always seems to be in a rush to get somewhere, though usually there’s nothing to get to.

Psychology:

Phobias/Fears: Failure, loss, and death. Is afraid of being enclosed in a dark space, no matter the size.
Mental Health: Could be construed as Compulsive. Tends to have anger issues and impulsive behavior. Based on that, you be the judge.
Overall Personality: Emmeline has a rather cheery disposition. She is friendly, helpful and slightly maternal, which comes from looking after her younger cousins. Although she can be the sweetest person you’ll meet, you may have to watch out for her as well. Getting on her bad side is not advisable, for she has a wrath that probably rivals that of Adam Sandler in ‘Anger Management.’

Although she can have momentary split personalities for the most part, she is level headed and knows what she wants. Emmeline’s a go getter and a momma’s girl. Favoring her mother over the love her father gives her. Emmeline has no problem telling her parents and peers straight to their faces that she dislikes them, or that they are pissing her off.

Emmeline isn’t a very secretive person either, she lets her feelings be known and her parents are mostly acceptant of the fact that Emmeline has experimented with her sexuality. She’s always been the kind of person that you eagerly open up to because you know she’ll listen without interruption and can sort of tell whether or not you need criticism, solutions, or comfort.

She’s a Gryffindor obviously and has pride, which keeps her from letting her friends be dissed, because that would mean she would also lose face.

Enemies: Severus Snape, most Slytherin’s in general. More prominent enemies are; Rodolphus and Rabastan Lestrange, Bellatrix and Narcissa Black, and Sirius’ brother, Regulus.

Attitude about school: Does the work she needs to in order to get passing grades, never really tries, but has had nothing less than average marks in any one class. Doesn’t exactly like school, but stays in it because of the people, and the experience. Stays in muggle schools because she hates quitting, has near perfect grades in her muggle studies and will ‘graduate’ from muggle ‘high school’ a year early.
Best Subjects: Defense, Charms, Transfiguration, muggle studies.
Worst Subjects: Divination. She’s never been much to listen to the dribble, about dying and becoming a –insert something terrible here-. Never really liked the thought of participating in the class.
